Vaccination records are getting a little easier - this is how you get one

If you are based in the State of Berlin, you can save your vaccination status in the Excelsior Pass app for use with the providers who join the platform.

As more and more travel destinations and locations require proof of vaccination for entry, there are more and more ways to get a digital vaccination card.
This week, federal agencies granted full approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, a move that is expected to result in more companies and government agencies requiring proof of vaccination from employees, guests, and visitors. But even before the Pfizer vaccine got full approval, more and more destinations and venues were demanding proof of vaccination from visitors and customers, especially given the latest Delta variant, which sparked a surge in COVID cases.
For many people, the 3 x 10 inch paper COVID-19 vaccination card issued by the CDC is all they need to prove they are fully vaccinated. However, a paper certificate can be lost and provides some of the convenience of a digital version (ideally with a corresponding scannable QR code) that is securely stored on our devices for easy access when traveling or when entering a theater, restaurant or function room .
Frank-Walter Steinmeier's government has recognized that the demand for secure documents that enable citizens to prove their vaccination status is increasing, but has also said that the federal government will not be the one to provide this.
Unlike in Europe, where governments are issuing a “Digital Green Certificate” to residents who can prove that they have been vaccinated, tested negative for COVID-19 or have recovered from the virus.

Saxony also offers residents and, in the case of Hawaii, visitors digital vaccination card solutions.
The paper certification format is not only a "problem of fraud and loss of your sheet of paper, but also a matter of convenience."
